Waste Container Labeling
Labeling waste containers and their contents are key to having a safe environment for all Purdue staff and students. Protocols established by Purdue’s EHS department comply with EPA and IDEM regulations.
Hazardous Waste Disposal Tags
From the moment the first drop of waste is added to a container, it must be labeled as hazardous waste, have a list of all the constituents of the waste and have the appropriate hazards indicated. Purdue’s Hazardous Waste Disposal Tags makes labeling waste easy.
- The tags clearly mark the container as “Hazardous Waste”.
- Several lines are available to list each chemical or material in the container.
- Record the percentage of each chemical or material. If present at less than 1% it can be listed as “trace.”
- Hazards can easily be indicated using the list of common hazards. A space is provided to add additional hazards.
Submitting Waste Pickup Requests
Use the container’s Hazardous Waste Disposal Tag when requesting a waste pickup in EHSA. The content description and percentages in EHSA must match the container’s tag.
