Purdue’s Commitment to Workplace Safety
Purdue University is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. Safety is a shared responsibility, and the university works to proactively identify and address potential hazards, promote safe work practices and provide the tools and resources needed to support employee well-being.
All employees play an important role in maintaining a safe environment by following established safety guidelines, remaining aware of workplace conditions and reporting concerns when they arise.
Protection Against Retaliation
The reporting program is designed to assist Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and other university staff in identifying unsafe conditions. Reports will be handled promptly and discreetly; however, sufficient and detailed information is necessary to conduct an appropriate investigation.
Individuals will not suffer any retaliatory action for reporting or inquiring in good faith. Retaliation against any individual for making a good faith disclosure is not allowed by law. Additionally, retaliation is not permitted pursuant to Purdue policy. For information please visit the Protection Against Reprisal for Good Faith Disclosures (Whistleblower Protection).
Safety Hotline Oversight and Reporting Options
Please remember that the Hotline is not for emergency services. For emergency assistance, call 911.
EHS is responsible for the oversight of Purdue’s Safety Hotline. Please contact the director of EHS at ehps@purdue.edu to report a concern.
- There are other reporting options available to you including talking to your supervisor or via local reporting mechanisms. The hotline does not replace existing reporting mechanisms, but rather serves as an additional option.
Immediate Telephone Reporting
You may call 765-494-6371 for immediate telephone reporting.
- If after business hours or the phone is not answered you may contact the Purdue Public Safety Dispatch Center at 765-494-8221 who will forward the call to the appropriate personnel.
Reporting Unethical or Illegal Behavior
If this is not a safety concern, but you see or suspect unethical or illegal behavior you should report that through the Purdue University’s Enterprise-Wide Hotline.
