PPE Guidelines for a Safer Workday
Many work and research environments involve exposure to hazardous chemicals, equipment or physical risks. To stay safe, it’s essential to understand potential hazards and use the correct personal protective equipment (PPE).
Across various departments, PPE policies are being updated to reduce injuries- especially in areas involving overhead tasks or mechanical work.
What You Need to Know:
- Risk assessments help identify the right PPE- review them regularly.
- Ask your supervisor or PI if you’re unsure what PPE is required.
- Bump caps may be needed for overhead or mechanical space work.
- Gloves are being adopted more widely to prevent hand injuries like cuts and abrasions.
Make safety a habit- know your risks and wear the right gear.
