Disposal and redistribution guidelines

Purdue Environmental Health and Safety reminds employees to properly manage leftover construction and trade products, including paints, adhesives, epoxies, drywall compound and similar materials.

Usable products may be redistributed through Purdue Surplus if the materials are still in good condition. Materials can be delivered directly to the Surplus Store at 698 Ahlers Drive in West Lafayette. For large quantities of usable materials, departments should submit a “Send Item(s) to WL Warehouse” form through Property Accounting and contact the Surplus Store for additional instructions.

Materials that are dried out, expired or otherwise unusable must be submitted to EHS for disposal through the online EHSA portal. When submitting a pickup request, users should:

• Select “Chemical” as the waste type.
• Enter only the brand name and material type in the description field.
• Enter “100” for the percentage of contents.
• Use the comments section for additional details about the product or container.
