Best Practices for Working Indoors
- Occasionally, contractors or Purdue personnel may need to perform work inside on rather short notice. This could pose hazards which you may not expect.
- Items such as power tools, extension cords or ladders may interfere with normal traffic flow in the office space or hallway.
- Although work personnel are expected to follow all safety measures when performing their task, impacts can still occur.
- Stay alert. Look for obstacles and do your best to avoid them. If ladders are in use, pay close attention when coming around corners or entering/exiting through doors.
- If trip hazards are present and they can’t be reasonably avoided, contact your supervisor or EHS so clean up can be addressed.
- Depending on the work performed, the site will likely change so stay alert to signs, email notifications and stay vigilant to avoid injury.
