How to Safely Remove Health Hazards
- Although, not used in current construction techniques, certain environmental and health hazards may still linger from years prior. This includes, but is not limited to, lead paint and asbestos.
- While both of the items are known to cause severe health issues, these items will be identified for remediation before exposure can occur.
- Areas containing lead and/or asbestos will be sealed off during the duration of abatement with signs posted indicating the nature and hazards associated with this work.
- Specifically licensed and approved professional workers will be employed to carry out abatement, if necessary.
- Engineering controls such as air monitoring, HEPA air cleaners and vented negative air units are utilized to collect and mitigate hazardous materials.
- Proper PPE, including full Tyvek suits and facial respirators are required when dealing with such materials to protect workers.
- If any abatement work is performed in your area, you will be alerted to it. Please pay attention to the signs and allow the workers to perform their duties.
