Encountering Floods
Construction Safety, Abatement and Remidiation
Actions to Take When Encountering a Flood
- Floods can happen anywhere at any time due to water pipe breaks, valve failure or by accidental release.- If you see evidence of an active water leak call 911 immediately! Floods are considered an emergency situation.
- Do not enter the area! It is possible that the water may be electrified depending on the situation and entering may cause serious injury or even death.
- EHS will assist in drying the area and restoring it to pre-flood conditions. Even for small floods, water can aid in the growth of suspected fungal growth behind walls. Leave the clean up to EHS.
- If an area is either currently under water or clean-up is in progress, please stay out of the area so crews can quickly and safely remediate the area to allow business to resume as usual.
