Construction Site Signage
Construction Safety, Abatement and Remediation
What to Know Before You Enter
Construction sites across campus use signage to communicate important safety information and help protect workers, visitors and the campus community. These signs are not just informational, they are required safety controls that help prevent accidents and guide safe movement around active work zones.
When approaching or passing a construction area, you may see signage that includes:
- Access restrictions identifying areas that are closed or limited to authorized personnel
- Required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as hard hats, safety glasses or high-visibility vests
- Hazard warnings indicating potential risks like overhead work, heavy equipment or uneven surfaces
- Detour and pedestrian routing signs that redirect foot traffic around active work zones
- Project identification signage providing contractor information and project details
These signs may change as work progresses, so it’s important to stay alert and follow the most current posted instructions.
Even brief entry into a construction zone can pose serious safety risks. Always respect barriers, fencing and posted signage, and use designated walkways when navigating around project areas.
Staying aware of construction signage helps ensure a safer campus environment for everyone.
