Being Weather Aware
Facility and Occupational Safety
Preparing for Severe Weather
Staying weather aware is essential to maintaining a safe workplace. Whether it’s extreme heat, heavy rain or severe weather alerts, being informed and prepared helps protect employees, equipment and daily operations.
Lightning
There is no safe place outside when thunderstorms are in the area. If you hear thunder, you are likely within striking distance of the storm. Just remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.
Tornado
Tornadoes are fast-developing, dangerous weather events that can strike with little warning. Staying weather aware and understanding your workplace’s emergency response plan is critical. Make sure you know where to take shelter, how alerts are communicated and what steps to take to stay safe during a tornado warning.
