GroupX

GroupX is a welcoming group fitness community with over 80 classes each week that are included in your RecWell membership at no additional cost. Whether you're just getting started or have been active for years, our certified instructors are trained to lead multilevel classes that are modifiable for all fitness levels. From high-energy cardio and strength to dance, yoga and recovery-based formats, there’s something for everyone. No matter your background or experience, you belong here. 

Below, you’ll find information on how to register for a class, how to cancel if needed and descriptions of all our current class offerings. 

Registration, Cancelation and No-Show Policies

Reserve your Spot
  • Step 1: Login to the RecWell Portal here, or Download the RecWell App on iphone or android.
  • Step 2: Click the Fitness Icon followed by GroupX if on portal, only click GroupX icon if on RecWell App.
  • Step 3: Select the Class you want to register for, click "register" in description, then scroll down to your class date and time, then hit select again.
  • Step 4: If you want to register for same class, but multiple days, select different date than you had in step 3. Follow same directions and select time you would like and hit "select" and "register". 
  • Step 5: Select your name, or person you want to register for in your program and hit "register".
  • Step 6: Screen will appear "How would you like to pay". Select next (All GroupX classes are free with a RecWell Membership). Proceed to checkout. 
  • Step 7: Select "Checkout" and select "Checkout". You have now successfully registered for your class.

Cancel your Registration

 Follow these steps to cancel a registration to GroupX:

  • Step 1: Login to the RecWell Member Portal.
  • Step 2: Click your picture in the top right hand corner, then select "Profile".
  • Step 3: Under your profile picture and ID number, select "Program Registrations".
  • Step 4: Find the class you want to cancel under upcoming tab and select the three dots (right-hand side) within the class you want to cancel and click "Cancel Registration".
  • Step 5: On the confirmation page that comes up, click "Confirm". 

Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to start of class to guarantee entry. At 2 minutes prior to the start of class, your spot may be given away to participants that are present. Entry will not be permitted after class has started. If you have questions or concerns, please email groupx@purdue.edu.

If you need to cancel your registration, the time allotted to cancel is 60 minutes prior to the start of class. If you fail to cancel, or show to your registered class time, you will be assessed a suspension and a $5 no-show fee.

RecWell No-Show Policy

No-Show Policy

An empty space in class means that another participant is being kept from joining the class. Participants will be charged for any pre-booked sessions that are "late cancelled" or are "no show". Participants who fail to cancel their registration at least 60 minutes before the start of class or do not show up, will have their account and access to RecWell suspended until they pay the $5 no-show fee at the Member Services desk at the CoRec. Class Descriptions

Strength

TOTAL BODY STRENGTH

Total Body Strength fuses cardiovascular, strength, and core training into one super-charged workout. Workouts will target major muscle groups utilizing various movements from week to week.

LES MILLS BODYPUMP™

BODYPUMP™ is the original barbell class that shapes, tones, and strengthens your entire body. The key to BODYPUMP™ is THE REP EFFECT™, a breakthrough in fitness training focusing on high repetition movements with low weight loads.  BODYPUMP™ will help you achieve strength and introduce muscle endurance conditioning.

EXPRESS CORE

This 30-minute core-training workout uses your body weight, resistance bands, and weights to strengthen and tone your midsection.  Exercises are designed to improve your core strength and endurance!

Mind/Body

RESTORATIVE YOGA

In Restorative Yoga, each pose is a unique experience linked with breathing, stretching, and letting go of tension and stress.  This slower-paced, Hatha style class will help relax and restore your mind and body.

YOGA FLOW

Yoga flow is a mind and body practice that offers continuous movement in and out of postures linked with your breath.  The goal of this class is to progressively build intensity into deeper postures before unwinding into savasana.  Come flow with us!

SUNRISE YOGA

This Vinyasa-style yoga class uses a flowing sequence of poses that change with every breath to increase strength, flexibility, endurance, and balance.  Sunrise Yoga starts with breathing exercises followed by a unique flow and ending with deep relaxation to start your day.

POWER YOGA 

In Power Yoga, you will move through energetic and quick-flowing sequences aimed at building strength and endurance.  This faster-paced, Vinyasa based flow will increase your heart rate while challenging your mind and body.

BARRE

Barre is a muscle-endurance class that utilizes a ballet barre for many of the exercises.  This class is designed to balance, strengthen, and tone the entire body.  Each class will include several highly effective sequences of high repetition, low resistance exercises with an emphasis on the core, arms, hips, and thighs.

PILATES

Pilates is a method of exercise consisting of low-impact, flexibility, and muscular endurance movements.  The class will focus on stability, posture, and breath control while challenging and balancing the muscles of the body.

Cardio

CYCLE

Take a ride over hills and across flat roads with a variety of sprints, intervals and choreography! Cycle is a highly effective way to build cardiovascular endurance.  Cycle offers both 45-minute and 30-minute express rides with fun energizing music. Come ride with us!

Dance

DANCE FITNESS

Ditch the workout and join the party!  This class provides continuous cardio using a combination of current music and high-energy dance moves.

Aqua

AQUA DEEP

Grab your swimsuit and head to the Boilermaker Aquatic Center for Aqua Deep!  This warm water exercise program takes place in our 86-degree diving well and incorporates cardio, strength and core training movements using flotation belts, water dumbbells, fins, noodles, and the resistance of the water.  Every muscle will be worked!
