This 50-minute non-traditional workout mixes power yoga with trap music. If you’ve heard music in a yoga class before, it’s likely that it was pretty mellow. It may have even faded into the background at some point. Trap Yoga is basically the opposite of that. Trap music is a type of a type of hip-hop that originated in the southern United States and is known for its heavy bass. Brandon Copeland, a Washington, D.C.-based yoga instructor, is credited with developing the practice. Copeland’s goal was to create a yoga format that provided a welcoming environment for newcomers who might feel uncomfortable in the silence of a traditional class or with music that participants did not identify with.
