WebEx

WebEx is a vendor application used to support meeting and call functions.   WebEx has replaced Jabber.   Purdue has adopted WebEx as the tool to use for placing phone calls without physically being in an office on campus, but yet using your office phone number.   Calls will appear as if you are calling and receiving from your office phone number.

Since SPS staff are now primarily remote, no physical phones are possible.  SPS now uses WebEx instead of Jabber to receive phone calls using their office phone number through their computer.

Users can download WebEx to their computer without having admin control and it is free.

Users must be provisioned for WebEx before using, but if you were a Jabber user, WebEx is already accessible.   All SPS staff have been provisioned for WebEx using the PC Windows version.   There are four versions that can be used:   PC (Windows/MAC), iPhone, Android and tablet.   You can be provisioned for as many versions as you need, i.e. PC and iPhone.   You can run both versions at the same time, but you cannot have it installed on two computers at the same time.   If you want to use it on a personal computer as well as your office machine, you need to sign-out of one before trying to use the other.

Also note, WebEx and Jabber cannot be run simultaneously.  You need to sign out of Jabber and close the application before installing or launching WebEx.

See the instructions below to begin use.
