Welcome to Contracting
Our mission and structure
Contracting is committed to provide timely, accurate, and courteous assistance to our faculty, external sponsors and other University personnel. We assist our customers in executing the required contracts for the administration of externally funded and non-funded sponsored programs at Purdue University during the initial establishment of contracts through to closeout. We provide expertise in interpreting the types of contracts needed, the legal clauses required in contracts and we promote compliance with sponsor and University policies.
Our service-level agreement
Contract Analysts provide services which include but are not limited to:
- Answer Questions on University contracts and contract negotiation issues
- Understand Intellectual Property and its impact on Pre-Award Budgets and University Agreements
- Developing Contract Agreements Including:
- Grants from federal and state governments
- Research contracts with industrial sponsors
- Confidentiality agreements (nondisclosure, proprietary, and confidentiality agreements)
- Material transfer agreements
- International collaboration agreements
- Subcontracts
- Review and process all contract Amendments and Terminations
- Answer questions regarding Contract Compliance
- Work with partnering institutions to secure all necessary contract documentation
- Collaborate with other university staff as appropriate including:
- Regulatory and Compliance
- Export Control
- Risk Analysis
- Office of Legal Counsel
- Treasury Operations
- Maintain up-to-date records in COEUS negotiation on all agreements initiated, in-process and completed
Contract Analysts provide oversight and compliance services which include but are not limited to:
- Assure all regulatory requirements and export control issues are identified and contain appropriate disclosures and approvals
- Review contract documents for requirements and highlight key issues for faculty and business offices
- Facilitate the establishment of agreements with Sponsors and work with Post Award regarding the payment of subrecipients

Additional Services
Contract Analysts provide Additional Services which include but are not limited to:
- Review of Agreements to determine if they need to go to Procurement or Office of Legal Counsel
Special Circumstances
Contracts should be consulted as needed on any contracts or binding agreements arising from research related activites. The Contracting Area provides support via sponsor specific teams:
- The Industrial Team (private sponsors and nonprofit sponsors such as foundations) spscontr@purdue.edu
- Government/International/Miscellany Team (Federal & State Government Sponsors, Subawards, and miscellaneous agreements) spscontr@purdue.edu
- Strategic Contracts Group (Industrial and Governmental Agreements that are complex or involve Purdue Strategic Partners) spscontr@purdue.edu
