Tableau Landscape

Tableau Landscape

Tableau Desktop (which requires a named user, purchased product key) allows users to build dashboards from a variety of data sources, from csv and xls files to oracle and microsoft sql server databases. Once you have connected to these data sources, you can embed the data into a dashboard and publish it to server for consumption, or you can publish just the data source to server. Often, dashboards which get published to server are embedded into websites such as the Data Digest and Management Dashboards. If the data source is published to server, other users which are granted access can build dashboards using either Tableau Desktop or using the Tableau Server provided web edit functionality (which is free to end users with Purdue's purchase of Tableau Server). The BICC publishes data sources to server which are connected to our ODS, EDW, and PDW, so that users can use enterprise data to build their dashboards. If you would like more information about the data, take a look at the data landscape page.
