How can I sign up to give a talk at GLSIAM 2025?
You will be given an option to sign up for a minisymposium or poster session talk while filling out the registration form. Please make sure to do this before September 5, 2026.
How are minisymposia scheduled at GLSIAM 2026?
The organizers will use the talk title and keywords provided during registration to place speakers into minisymposia on related topics. We will also take into account the seniority levels and home institutions of the registered participants.
The organizers' aim is to keep each minisymposium as coherent as possible subject matter-wise, while also varying the institutions and seniority level of the speakers, in order to maximize the networking opportunities that the minisymposium offers to each of its participants.
I'd like to organize a minisymposium. Can I do that?
As mentioned in the previous question, the conference organizers will put together the minisymposia by default. However, if you'd like to organize a minisymposium yourself, you're welcome to do so, as long as the composition of the speakers in your proposed session aligns with the organizers' goals for the conference (see the previous question).
At a practical level, what this means is a group of four speakers, with the following requirements:
(1) at least two different position types represented, from the following list
(a) student or postdoc,
(b) lecturer or similar position
(c) pre-tenured professor
(d) tenured professor,
(e) industry position
(2) at most two speakers from the same institution.
REGISTER HERE TO ADD A MINI SYMPOSIUM
All four speakers should be registered by the Sept. 5 deadline. Please email before Sept. 5, with the names of the confirmed speakers.
Finally, we hope that if you put together a minisymposium, that you will also be willing to chair the session.
Is there a hotel block of rooms for this conference?
Faculty may be able to use the government rates at hotels in the area. If so, the hotel may ask for a government ID or faculty ID at checkin.
