The Great Lakes section of SIAM (GLSIAM) was formed in 1988, to serve Michigan, Northern Ohio, Northern Indiana, Southern Ontario, and the surrounding areas. It organizes its annual conferences around themes reflecting its members' evolving interests within applied mathematics.

The 2026 meeting will take place at Purdue University in West Lafayette, on September 19 and 20, 2026. The scientific program of the conference will center around the overlapping fields of differential equations, computation, data science, and the physical and biological sciences.

Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) is an international organization that fosters the development of applied mathematics and computational methodologies needed in various application areas through publications, conferences, and communities like student chapters, geographic sections, and activity groups.
