Enrollment Information

Open Enrollment

Students may enroll in the Purdue Student Health Insurance plan during open enrollment periods. Open enrollment for the fall semester begins July 1 and ends September 5 at 5 p.m. EDT. Open enrollment for the spring and summer semester begins on the first business day in December and ends at 5 p.m. on February 3.

International students must purchase the insurance plan, or have an approved waiver on file by the deadline. International students who have not purchased the insurance plan, or do not have an approved waiver will:

  • Have a hold placed on their account.
  • Have to purchase the Purdue Insurance plan.
  • Pay a $200 late fee.

Please visit the student insurance office in PUSH, Rooms G11 or G13, to enroll after the deadline date.

Annual vs. Semester Enrollments

Students have the option to enroll in annual or semester plans. We recommend students enroll in the Annual plan as it provides continuous coverage throughout the academic year and students must only meet the eligibility requirements once. For example, students who purchase a fall semester plan and experience a serious illness or injury after January 1 prohibiting a return to class for spring/summer would be ineligible for insurance coverage. Students enrolling separately in fall and spring/summer plans must also meet eligibility requirements for each coverage period.
