Pandemic is a cooperative strategy game where players either save the world together or lose the game together. In Pandemic you are working as a team to find the cure for and irradicate 4 different viruses. Each player is a different kind of specialist with their own special strength. Plan on losing more than winning the game. It is a lot of fun and great practice in working WITH others to complete a goal. Yes, it can model how viruses can spread, contagion, and disease management. However, the teacher will have to lead that as a discussion or with the student worksheet. A lot of students struggle with making decisions. To help them practice being more decisive, we can add a timer and give them only 3 minutes to decide and make their moves.

From designer Matt Leacock, Pandemic is a cooperative game of teamwork for two to four players. As members of an elite disease control team, you must keep four deadly diseases at bay. Work together as you travel the globe to treat infections while collecting the cards you need to discover a cure for each disease. But the clock is ticking as outbreaks and epidemics fuel the spreading plagues. As a cooperative game, players win or lose together. Only by working together can you keep the outbreaks in check and find the cures in time!
