Together, we can .
See our FAQsI received my Bachelor of Science in Biology from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO, then attended Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school.
I completed my three year Rotating Internship and Family Medicine Residency, as well as a year Fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, associated with Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
I care for athletes and non-athletes with all manner of musculoskeletal complaints, caused by acute injury or overuse including fractures, muscle strains, joint sprains, tendon injuries, stress fractures, concussions, neck and back pain associated with activity and posture. I work closely with all kinds of athletes, whether intramural, club sports, varsity athletes, and others just trying to stay in shape.
After medical training, I worked in a private orthopedic practice near Columbus, Ohio for five years focusing on musculoskeletal medicine in all ages. I then came to Purdue, and for the past 13 years have provided musculoskeletal care for both Purdue varsity athletes and all other Purdue students. This summer I left Athletics and am now based solely at PUSH, providing musculoskeletal and primary care to all Purdue students.
I enjoy the variety of injuries and issues the undergraduate and graduate students present with at PUSH. I especially like having a chance to learn about different cultures from the international students, whether it is different sports, treatments, or even expectations for what they experience here at PUSH.
My philosophy is that the patient needs to understand the cause of their injury, and what it takes to recover. I spend time on this education during the office visit as much as I can.
Outside of work at Purdue I spend time with my dogs, we hike 2-3 days a week. I like outdoor photography, woodworking and yard work/gardening.
"I thought Dr. Sundstrom did an excellent job of showing/explaining where my pain was coming from."
