Hoagland Lab members Stephanie Castaño, Sandra (Naomy) Perez, Kathleen Zapf and Kayla Quintero attended the Urban Food Systems Symposium in Columbus, Ohio from June 11-13. Celina Gómez and Cary Mitchell were in Seoul Korea May 19-22 for the LightSym2024 international conference where they presented their light-related research with plants. Celina also moderated a session at LightSym.
Purdue Agriculture Communication featured a story on the Varala Lab’s recent publication in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences: Purdue-USDA team develops fast-track process for genetic improvement of plant traits. The story has also been featured in the US Department of Energy’s University and Stakeholder News.
Celina Gómez and Cary Mitchell along with OptimIA project colleagues from around the USA are in the Tokyo suburb of Kashiwa May 15-19 to visit the Japan Plant Factory Association, give papers about their indoor agriculture research, and to visit several progressive plant factories in that area.
