Leading at Purdue

Effective supervision is more than understanding HR processes. It is about building the capabilities that help employees, teams and organizations succeed. Purdue's supervisor enablement workshop series provides supervisors with practical, interactive learning experiences designed to strengthen the skills most critical to leading people effectively.

Built around Purdue's supervisor capability framework, the series develops eight core leadership capabilities: communication & influence, coaching & development, relationship management, talent stewardship, performance leadership, change leadership, decision-making & business acumen and data-informed leadership. Through real-world scenarios, peer discussion and actionable tools, supervisors will learn how to apply these capabilities in everyday workplace situations.

Each workshop focuses on a specific supervisory practice, using HR processes as the practical context while keeping leadership capability development as the primary learning goal.

These free sessions are open to all Purdue supervisors and managers. Once registered, the TEAMS link for the session will be sent in a separate email.

Class registration is through SuccessFactors Learning; courses are announced in Purdue Today. Reach out to teclearning@purdue.edu with training requests.

We’ll explore how AI can support the work, where human judgment matters most and how every interaction contributes to the candidate experience. Throughout the session, we’ll also share what Purdue applicants are telling us about their experience — what is working, where things can go wrong and simple practices that make a difference.
