News you need to know …

“News You Need to Know” brings important, Benefits-related information, promotions and reminders on a variety of topics. This month, learn more about the post-open enrollment survey, mental health resources and the last Healthy Boiler workshop of 2022.

Your feedback is requested – Respond by December 15

Human Resources – Benefits is reminding employees who did not take the survey following completion of their benefits open enrollment to take part in the brief, two-part, post-open enrollment survey.

  • Purdue employees can access their survey here.
  • Purdue Global employees can access their survey here.

Responses are requested by December 15.

Each year, the benefits department, stakeholder groups and LHD Benefits Advisors analyze employee perspective via the survey results and then use that data and information as part of the building blocks for future benefits packages and wellness offerings. Employee feedback to the survey is the best way for them to share their opinions, experiences and suggestions that help move the University forward.

Behavioral health resources available for faculty, staff, students

Behavioral health – one of the five pillars of the Healthy Boiler Program – plays a key role in overall employee well-being. The Mental Health Resources web page offers a variety of available resources for faculty and staff, including SupportLinc and LiveHealthOnline.

Resources are also available for students.

Faculty and staff who work with students or have a student at home can direct them to the resources below for behavioral health assistance. Note: United Healthcare Student Resources (UHCSR) — medical plan provider for students and graduate students — offers 292 unique mental health providers serving at various locations that are in-network with UHCSR within Tippecanoe County. The list is available here. Additionally, students have access to HealthiestYou, which provides virtual access to mental health care as part of UHCSR’s plan. All services are free for students covered under the UHCSR insurance plan.

Dial 988 for support for mental health crisis

As championed by the Healthy Boiler Program, everyone deserves access to the support they need, when they need it – and that includes mental health support. Anyone facing a mental health crisis can call 988 and get connected to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (also called the Lifeline).

The line is staffed with crisis counselors who are trained to understand exactly how callers are feeling and to pair them with resources that are specifically tailored to helping them meet the moment they’re in. This free and confidential resource was created to provide a direct connection to compassionate, accessible support 24/7 via an easy-to-remember, three-digit number.
