Grace Van Orman

Networking and meeting new people is a key component to building a successful career and that career can begin long before a student graduates. Just ask College of Liberal Arts and ENTR Ambassador Grace Van Orman who, in addition to studying Public Relations and Strategic Communication with a minor in Anthropology, is also pursuing a Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Throughout her time at Purdue, Grace has served as the Treasurer of Lambda Pi Eta, been an active member of the Purdue Filipino Association and has played on multiple intramural soccer teams. Additionally, Grace has been a research intern for the Wilke Undergraduate Research Program, interned at Indiana Donor Network as the multicultural outreach intern and studied abroad for a semester at the National University of Singapore.

As an advocate of networking, Grace has formed relationships throughout her time in the ENTR program that have contributed to her success at Purdue. Whether she is participating in class, presenting a pitch, or speaking with prospective students about her passion for entrepreneurship, Grace immerses herself in professional networking and growth to differentiate herself from her peers, as well as to help her grow as a professional.

Grace has also used opportunities inside the classroom to build her network. “The skills and knowledge I’ve gained from the ENTR Certificate Program have really impacted me thus far by enabling me to have so many experiences that I wouldn’t have been able to have otherwise. From working on projects and becoming friends with people outside of the College of Liberal Arts to learning how businesses are created and operate, the program has really enriched my experience as a student and fostered both professional and personal growth.”

Grace will graduate in May 2020 and plans to work in digital marketing or at a creative marketing agency. She will no doubt take her network and her networking skills with her as she launches what is sure to be a successful career.
