Safe Ride with Lyft
Beginning Feb. 23, 2026, a new safe ride pilot program with Lyft will be available to Purdue students in Indianapolis.
Destinations
Lyft will provide students with rides to and from several campus destinations on and around the Indianapolis location, including the Student Center, Lux on Capitol, the National Institute for Fitness and Sport and some nearby healthcare facilities. Please reference the map below to see the geo-fenced locations.

A PDF version of the map is also available.
Program Details
The service will operate seven days a week from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. throughout the pilot period, which runs through May 31. Each student will receive five ride credits per month. The credits are only usable within the outlined geo-fenced areas on the map. Students may also share rides with other eligible riders to maximize the value of each credit.
Once a student is signed up for the program, a pass will be reflected in the ‘Payment’ tab of the Lyft app and will automatically apply to any eligible rides. If a ride is not eligible, a discount will not be shown on the ride confirmation screen. Cancellation fees, no-show fees, damage fees and driver tips will be charged to the payment method on file in the Lyft app.
Ride Smart
When riding with Lyft, always make safety a top priority and be sure to take the following actions:
- Ask the driver to say who they are picking up.
- Verify your ride by making sure the license plate number, driver information and car make and model match what you see in the app.
- Share your location and route with a friend or loved one from within the Lyft app so they can follow your ride in real-time.
- Follow the Lyft vehicle on GPS via the app.
