Purdue University in Indianapolis Campus
Timely Warning messages are part of Purdue University’s commitment to provide campus-area crime information in compliance with federal law, specifically the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), which requires Purdue University to alert the campus community to certain crimes in a manner that is timely and will aid in the prevention of similar crimes.
The university must issue a Timely Warning for all Clery Act crimes reported to have occurred on Clery Act geography and are reported to the Purdue University Police Department, to university employees who have been identified by the Vice President for Ethics and Compliance (VPEC) as Campus Security Authorities (CSAs), or local police agencies and considered by the institution to represent a serious or continuing threat to students and employees.
Timely Warnings and Off-Campus Alerts
Due to the shared nature of the Purdue University in Indianapolis campus with Indiana University (IU)-Indianapolis and for full transparency for our students and staff who routinely traverse across the IU-Indianapolis campus or utilize their facilities, Timely Warnings or Emergency Notifications for Purdue University in Indianapolis may be augmented to include Off-Campus Crime Alerts. These alerts may be issued for areas outside of our Clery Act reportable geography or non-Clery Act reportable crimes.
Off-Campus Crime Alerts may mirror messages sent by IU-Indianapolis and will be disseminated in the same manner as Timely Warnings by the Chief of Police at the West Lafayette campus or their designee.
This page is NOT a layer of the university’s Timely Warning or Emergency Notification policy or procedure, but it is maintained for transparency, safety and educational purposes.
