How to Renew Aid

You will have up to four years (8 semesters) of eligibility while pursuing your first undergraduate degree and may appeal to use this scholarship during a summer semester. 

• Participating in a Purdue-approved co-op or internship will not count against semester usage or credit hour requirements. Students in co-op or internship will not receive the scholarship while away.
• Scholarships can be used for Study Abroad provided it is a program in which the student is enrolled full time and billed through Purdue University.
• Students can reference the Scholarship Appeals section below for more information about an academic year or summer appeal.
• Please note that if residency status changes, scholarship amounts will be adjusted accordingly to reflect that change. 

Requirements: 

• Continuous full-time enrollment each semester (minimum of 12 or more credit hours), excluding summer. 
• Achieve a minimum cumulative 3.00 GPA. GPA is checked annually at the end of each spring semester. If your GPA is below 3.0 at the end of the spring term and you enroll in summer courses to increase your GPA, it will be checked again at the end of the summer term.

Requirements effective as of the 2018-19 academic year: 

• Continuous full-time enrollment each semester (minimum of 12 or more credit hours), excluding summer.

Requirements: 

• File the FAFSA by April 15 each year. 
• Submit all required verification documents as requested by the Division of Financial Aid. 
• Remain enrolled in an eligible major as determined by the Purdue Bound Office. 
• Have a cumulative GPA of 2.6 or above. 
• Have not exceeded 8 semesters of eligibility. 
• Remain enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours per semester). 

The renewal of departmental scholarships differs among colleges and schools. It is important to be aware of the requirements and renewal process for your specific scholarship if applicable.  

Some colleges use the Purdue Departmental Scholarship Application located in ScholarshipUniverse. View the list of which colleges use ScholarshipUniverse. If your college uses ScholarshipUniverse, you may apply for new scholarships or renew existing scholarships, if applicable, by logging in with your Purdue Career Account.  

If your college does not use ScholarshipUniverse or the Purdue Departmental Scholarship Application, please see the Applying for Purdue Aid for further instructions and contact information of people who can help in your specific college.

Students that do not meet the renewal requirements due to extenuating circumstances have the option to submit an academic year appeal for committee review. Additionally, students participating in co-op or internship programs that cause a different pattern of enrollment may use the summer appeal document to use a semester of scholarship funding during the summer.  

Summer appeals should only be used when a student will not be on campus for a total of 8 fall and spring semesters. If the summer merit appeal is approved, the scholarship will reflect the summer cost of attendance, which will be different than the cost of fall or spring attendance. 

If you have a private scholarship awarded outside of Purdue, it is your responsibility to learn about the renewal process if applicable. Because each financial aid year is considered separately by the university, private scholarships (new or renewed) need to be reported each year.
