Mentoring

Research shows that effective faculty–graduate student mentoring relationships can significantly influence the academic and career paths of both mentors and mentees. To support and strengthen these impactful connections, the Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars (OGSPS) offers theoretically grounded, evidence-based, and culturally responsive mentorship training for Purdue faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students.

Mentoring Awards

Each year, Purdue honors outstanding mentors—faculty, postdocs, and graduate students—who make a lasting impact through research, teaching, and community engagement. Nominate a mentor who inspires and leads.

Mentoring and Reporting

One of the most important parts of the graduate student experience is the mentoring they receive from their major professor, as well as the numerous other individuals that can positively impact them. Purdue University wants every graduate student to have a rich and meaningful graduate experience. For that to happen, students need effective mentors. This page provides Purdue University’s guidelines for graduate student mentoring and advising.
