Postdoc Community Hub
The Postdoc Community Hub is your space to connect, engage, and discover opportunities that enrich life at Purdue. Here you’ll find programs that celebrate our diverse postdoc community, highlight accomplishments, and create ways to build meaningful connections—whether through cultural events or community gatherings.
Purdue is home to more than 600 postdocs representing 52 countries, creating a vibrant and diverse international community. The Country Connections program helps postdocs connect with others from their home country or region. If you would like to connect with postdocs from a specific country, email our office to make your request. Our team will reach out to postdocs from that country to confirm permission before sharing contact information. This initiative is a great way to build community, find support, and celebrate the global diversity of Purdue’s postdoctoral scholars.
Each September, Purdue joins institutions across the country in celebrating National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW). This week highlights the significant contributions of postdoctoral scholars to research, teaching, and community at Purdue. Our office hosts a variety of events throughout the week—such as social gatherings, networking opportunities, and professional development sessions—to recognize and celebrate postdocs. Event details and RSVP information are shared each year through our office communications and event flyers.
Purdue Postdoctoral Affairs is partnering with Purdue Convocations to provide postdocs opportunities to experience world-class performances and cultural events. This initiative is a fun way to enjoy live performances, connect with fellow postdocs outside the lab, and explore the vibrant arts community at Purdue and in Greater Lafayette. Special seating areas are also being set aside so postdocs can buy tickets and attend shows together—use code POSTDOC2526 to sit with other postdocs!
As an initial launch of this partnership, Purdue Convocations has provided three pairs of tickets to be given away during National Postdoc Appreciation Week 2025 events. Register for NPAW 2025 to enter!
The Purdue Postdoctoral Association (PPDA) organizes social events and community activities throughout the year to bring postdocs and their families together. These events are designed to build connections, foster friendships, and create a sense of belonging within the postdoc community.
Past activities have included welcome picnics, family-friendly outings, cultural celebrations, and seasonal gatherings. Whether you’re new to Purdue or looking to expand your network, PPDA events are a great way to meet fellow postdocs, relax outside of work, and experience the Greater Lafayette community.
