Training Group:
Microbiology, Immunology, and Infectious Disease
Research Summary:
The Matosevic Lab has a large focus on cancer immunotherapies with a specialization into the use of Natural Killer (NK) cells as anti-tumor therapies. Additional projects within the lab are focused on immune engineering (which also pertains to NK cells), the improved cryopreservation of immune cells, and we are beginning to venture into studying the brain’s biology. The lab works with several different tumor types, including primary samples received from human osteosarcoma and glioblastoma patients and cancer cell strains developed from similar diseases.
Why did you choose to attend PULSe:
I chose the PULSe program because it allowed me to gain new lab experiences by rotating through many different labs, with very different backgrounds, before having to make my final decision. I completed my undergraduate studies here at Purdue, but due to a late major switch I couldn’t venture through many different research fields prior to graduating. This program allowed me to explore fields that I had never previously considered and gain confidence in my decision for my final placement.
