Research Summary:

My research project involves developing immune cell based therapy against aggressive solid tumors. Using natural killer (NK) cells as the therapeutic agent, I am currently working on introducing a trans-gene inside NK cells to express chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) which can target osteosarcoma (a type of bone cancer). CAR modified NK cells have an enhanced potential to eliminate cancer cells when compared to primary cells and we plan to use this approach to eliminate osteosarcoma and its tumor microenvironment.

Why did you choose to attend PULSe:

The PULSe program provided me with the opportunity to explore different areas of life sciences before I chose my field of interest. For a fresh graduate with little to no research experience, the prospect of rotating in four different labs was really attractive. It gave me the freedom to choose between labs, while I could hone my critical thinking and hands-on skills working with seniors/mentors before diving into my own research project.

About Me: (Hobbies and Interests when not in lab):

I love playing badminton, walking in nature parks and hanging out with friends during the weekends. I also enjoy playing guitar and singing bollywood songs as a hobby. Alongside being a researcher, these activities help me stay healthy and creative.
