Training Group:

Chemical Biology

Research Summary:

I would be working on the role of phosphatases in cancer pathophysiology. My lab works broadly on target validation and therapeutic development having both a chemical synthesis part and biological studies. I will focus mostly on using different cell lines and mouse genetic models to understand how phosphatases affect various signaling pathways in oncology and testing the safety/efficacy of phosphatase-targeted therapeutic moeities synthesized in the lab.

Why did you choose to attend PULSe:

PULSe offers lab rotations before joining a major lab for our PhD which I believed was important for students like me who were not completely sure of the specific research area they want to pursue as part of their PhD. Also, the PULSe course curriculum is well designed, catering to the needs of different training groups, giving a more focused and organized approach to graduate training. Finally, the focus on interdisciplinary research attracted me which I believe will help me broaden my knowledge in my field of interest and acquire a collaborative approach to doing research.

About Me: (Hobbies and Interests when not in lab):

When not in lab, I enjoy cooking for myself and my friends. I enjoy hosting people in my home and socializing. I am also interested in performing at different cultural events as dancing and music are things I enjoy since my childhood. Last but not the least I love traveling; I look for short breaks in between my work schedule for a quick getaway, a long drive or a hike with my friends, exploring new places and cuisines.
