Integrative Neuroscience

Secondary Training Groups:

Computational and Systems Biology

Research Areas:

Disease mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases with particular interest in epitranscriptomic - regulatory RNA - epigenetic network

Current Projects:

1. Epitranscriptomic dysregulation in neurodegenerative diseases 2. The function and mechanism of transposon-derived non-coding RNAs in normal neuronal development and disease context 3. Therapeutic tools for neurodegenerative diseases: drug screening and RNA-targeting gene therapy

Importance of Interdisciplinary Research:

We combine modern molecular experiments and bioinformatic tools to explore novel but clinically significant disease mechanisms. We use healthy and patient induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) -differentiated neuronal cells and post-mortem brain tissues as study models.
