Primary Training Group:
Integrative Neuroscience
Research Areas:
Research in my laboratory is focused on neural and endocrine factors involved in the control of food intake, regulation of energy balance, and stress. We are currently investigating hormonal influence on metabolic systems throughout the course of development,
Current Projects:
Interplay of satiety hormones to affect food intake and short-and long-term regulation of body weight; metabolic syndrome and polycystic ovary syndrome; gut microbiome and eating disorders.
Importance of Interdisciplinary Research:
The complexities of brain and behavior cannot be fully understood using a single lens. Neuroscience spans molecular biology, cognition, cellular physiology, multi-system processing, and behavior. My lab is ultimately interested in behavior, which requires an understanding of underlying neural and hormonal mechanisms, how they affect behavior, and how behavior affects them.
