Research Areas:

We develop and experimentally test computational tools capable of proposing synthesis routes (or “recipes”) that primarily use enzyme catalysis to make complex small molecules.

Current Projects:

Enzymatic synthesis of biopolymers and complex pharmaceutical agents informed by A.I. planning.

Importance of Interdisciplinary Research:

Research done in the Sankar group is at the interface of biochemistry, applied computer science and engineering. Complex problems, like the ones being attempted in Sankar Lab, require an interdisciplinary approach; therefore, our lab has students from a range of academic backgrounds.
