Research Areas:

Dr. Teegarden's primary research areas is identifying molecular mechanisms that regulate alterations in energy metabolism, with a particular focus on obesity, to identify dietary targets such as vitamin D to prevent breast cancer.

Current Projects:

- Impact of cellular energy metabolism on promoting breast cancer and metastasis. - Cellular energy metabolism, including glucose, glutamine and fatty acids, requirement in specific steps in the breast cancer metastatic progression. - Regulation and requirement of glycogen for breast cancer. - Proteomics of cytoplasmic lipid droplets in metastatic breast cancer. - Obesity regulation of cellular energy metabolism in promoting breast cancer metastasis.

Importance of Interdisciplinary Research:

Interdisciplinary Research is essential for developing innovative solutions to address the complex health problems, including cancer. Research that brings different disciplines together to develop creative and effective strategies to accelerate research solutions.
