Aaron Specht

Department:

Health and Human Sciences

Research:

My work primarily focuses on 3 areas: 1) building instrumentation to make quantification of environmental pollutants easier in population or ecological health projects; 2) implementation of my novel technologies into existing cohort studies or environmental health studies; and 3) developing new studies centered on the added capabilities afforded using my new technology and the implications of these measurements in toxicological health.

Current Projects:

I have three currently funded projects within my lab: 1) Development of a novel X-ray fluorescence tool to quantify exposures in the military. 2) Measure long-term lead exposure and identify potential neurological motor dysfunction for future studies in occupationally exposed cohorts. 3) Using micro X-ray fluorescence to map biomarkers from humans and animals to investigate potential health impacts in neurodegeneration or exposure studies.
