Research Summary:

My work in the Weake Lab is focused on elucidating a redox regulatory pathway that allows for light adaptation after prolonged exposure to bright or blue light in Drosophila melanogaster. Specifically, I am interested in the oxidation status of the protein kinase C within the termination of the phototransduction cascade, and whether oxidation of this PKC increases the proteins activity, independent of its required cofactors.

Why did you choose to attend PULSe:

PULSe provided me with an opportunity to try out different areas of research so that I wasn't limited to what I know. I also loved how with PULSe you are able to build of network of faculty from all over campus in your first year, which helps tremendously for future endeavors after graduate school.

About Me: (Hobbies and Interests when not in lab):

When I am not in lab, I am reading a novel, watching TV or movies, or I'm in Michigan enjoying a nice weekend with my partner.
