Plant Biology
Research Summary:
Plants produce specialized metabolites known as phenylpropanoids that have many biological roles. Recently, our lab’s efforts to engineer phenylpropanoid metabolism has revealed a role for phenylpropanoids in roots that appear to be involved in plant growth regulation. I am employing a combination of transcriptomics, metabolomics, and genetics to decipher the mechanism of these compounds using the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana.
Why did you choose to attend PULSe:
I chose PULSe because it gave me the freedom to rotate with numerous faculty from different departments. This gave me the opportunity to explore new topics without being limited to one department, while allowing me to build a professional network across the University.
