Summer Move-In Information

Note: Please know that the following information is for the 2025-26 academic year. Please check back soon for more information about the 2026-27 academic year.

Starting college is an exciting transition and move-in day is an important first step. Here you'll find all the key details—dates, instructions, checklists, and support resources—to help you feel prepared and confident as you arrive on campus and begin your Early Start experience.

Important Dates

  • Move-In: 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM, July 12
  • Early Start Orientation: July 12–13
    • View schedule of orientation activities here
    • A "Parent Session" will be held on Saturday, July 12 from 2:45-3:10 p.m. During this time, students will meet with their peer mentors and the other members of their group. After the session, there will be approximately 20 minutes before Student Sessions begin - an ideal time to say your goodbyes.
  • First day of class: July 14

Optional Late Arrival

We encourage everyone to arrive at their assigned time. If there are circumstances where you need to arrive late, please email azickmu@purude.edu to arrange a separate time for move-in.

If something arises on the day of move-in, please call 765-496-2023 and leave a voice mail.

Parking and Unloading Zones

When you arrive at the residence hall, your student should go inside to pick up their room key. The driver should remain with the car.

Carts and Peer Mentors will be available to assist with unloading and moving items to the room.

After the car is unloaded, please move it to a designated parking area to keep the loading zone clear for others. The closest parking garages are:

If you're using a cargo trailer, please park at:

Be sure to park only in spaces marked "A, B, or C". Do not park in spaces labeled A Only. Look for volunteers in black "Think Summer" t-shirts

Volunteers and Peer Mentor Support

Look for volunteers in gold t-shirts—they’ll be available to answer questions and provide directions. You’ll also see directional signs along the sidewalks to help guide your way.

If you need help on move-in day, please leave a voicemail at 765-496-2023. Your message will be sent directly to our Outreach Coordinator, who will return your call as soon as possible.

What to Bring

    • To see a recommended list of items to bring (and not bring), please  visit the University Residences website.
    • There are no rental services for room supplies in July for refrigerators and microwaves.
      • Two options: Buy and bring your own or wait until August and rent from the on-campus rental company.
    • The residence halls for Early Start are air-conditioned, but you may want to bring a fan.

Remember there can only be one refrigerator and one microwave per room.

Housing and Dining Info

  • Meal Plans: Early Start residential student will receive a meal plan. That plan includes 14 meals a week and $25.00 dining dollars a week. The full amount of dining dollars will be loaded at the beginning of the session.
  • Transportation: CityBus info + Bus Passes available from an Early Start team member.

Technology and Mobile ID

Your Purdue Mobile ID on your smartphone is your digital key to campus! Once activated, it allows you to:

  • Access Your Residence Hall: Unlock exterior doors and your assigned room.
  • Use Your Meal Plan: Swipe at dining courts, retail dining locations, and on-campus markets.
  • Check Out Library Materials: Use it to borrow books and resources from Purdue Libraries.
  • Use Rec Facilities: Scan in at the CoRec and other fitness or recreational spaces.
  • Attend Campus Events: Swipe in for access to student-only events and activities.
  • Make Purchases: Pay at vending machines, laundry facilities, and select campus locations using BoilerExpress funds linked to your ID.
  • Verify Your Student Status: Use it for identity verification in academic or administrative offices.

Your Purdue Mobile ID is a convenient, secure, and essential tool for daily campus life—make sure it's set up and ready to go before arriving on campus!

Safety, Health and Accessibility

  • Purdue University Student Health Services (PUSH) is open and available to support your student’s health needs. Click here to learn more about available services.
    • No-cost office visits: Full-time students are eligible for free office visits related to illness or injury
  • Immunization Requirements: All college students are required to meet state immunization guidelines. Students do not need to have all vaccines completed before move-in. PUSH staff will assist students in completing any missing vaccinations after arrival.
  • What to Bring
    • A copy of your student's health insurance card
    • HSA (Health Savings Account) card, if applicable. PUSH is in-network with United Healthcare and Anthem
