Information about university

The University of Dundee is located on the eastern coast of Scotland.  Founded in 1881 the institution was, for most of its early existence, a constituent college of the University of St Andrews.  Following significant expansion, the University of Dundee became an independent body in 1967.  Since its independence, the university has grown to become an internationally renowned centre for teaching and research. Dundee has developed a significant reputation for students entering the traditional professions  as well as emerging areas such as life sciences and art.  In recent years, its molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics departments have grown to become the most influential in Britain, recently being awarded a Queen's Anniversary Prize for drug discovery and development.  The University operates on a semester system paralleling the semesters at Purdue.
