Request Official Purdue Records

You may encounter situations that require official documentation from the university verifying your enrollment and degree(s) earned. Here, you’ll find all the ways to request your official Purdue records as well as guidance for parents/guardians, alumni and third-party requestors.

Enrollment Verification

If you need to verify your enrollment — for a loan deferment, insurance coverage or another request — you can access your official enrollment certification through Myhub in your myPurdue portal. It’s available online, and most requests can be completed on your own without needing to contact our office.

Enrollment classifications for reporting purposes may differ from enrollment requirements for financial aid eligibility. State and federal financial aid regulations use separate definitions to determine enrollment level for graduate and professional students.

Please note that enrollment certifications available through Myhub are only valid for current and prior terms and do not include future-term enrollment. Students who need verification of future-term enrollment may request a standard enrollment certification memo by emailing certifications@purdue.edu. Our office can provide a certification based on the student’s enrollment record in the university system.

Access select enrollment verification documents directly through your myPurdue portal using Myhub including:

  • Official enrollment verification certificates (for insurers, lenders and other organizations)
  • Records of the timing deferment notices were sent to your student lenders
  • Your full enrollment history
  • Copies of proof of enrollment sent on your behalf to service providers
  • A list of your student loan holders

Your Official Enrollment Verification Certificate

In myPurdue, select Academics from the top menu, then find your Academic Profile card. From there, choose the “Enrollment Certification — Myhub Dashboard” link. You’ll be directed to the National Student Clearinghouse, where you can log in or create an account to download or print your enrollment verification certificate.

Order Your Official Transcript

Are you a current student? Start by reviewing your unofficial transcript to see if it meets your needs. Access your unofficial transcript anytime in myPurdue from your Transcript and Grades card — no request needed. Keep in mind that unofficial transcripts are generally not accepted by employers, graduate schools or licensing boards.

Official transcripts are ordered through National Student Clearinghouse (NSC), Purdue’s online transcript service. Visit Purdue’s National Student Clearinghouse storefront, where you can log in or create an account to order your transcript — with records available from 1968 to the present. A $10 fee applies to each transcript ordered through the National Student Clearinghouse.

This ordering process applies to current students, former students and alumni from the following locations:

  • West Lafayette
  • Indianapolis
  • Purdue Polytechnic Statewide (all locations)

NOTE: If you are a current or former student at Purdue University Fort Wayne or Purdue University Northwest (Calumet or North Central), please contact the Registrar’s Office at your campus directly to order your official transcript.

Apostille: Certifying Documents for International Use

An apostille is a form of certification that makes official documents valid for use in other countries. Purdue uses this process for documents submitted to institutions or agencies abroad, under the terms of the 1961 Hague Convention.

The following documents may be requested for apostille:

  • Official transcripts
  • Enrollment or degree certifications
  • A scanned copy of your diploma — you must provide this yourself

Place your order through National Student Clearinghouse to get started — a fee applies to each order. Once received, we’ll prepare your documents and sends them to the Indiana Department of State in Indianapolis for authentication. After the apostille is complete, the State House delivers your package directly to your recipient’s address as listed in your National Student Clearinghouse order.

Make sure you plan ahead. The full process takes 4 to 6 weeks. Expedited processing is not available.

Note: Purdue staff aren’t able to advise you on the international apostille process. It’s your responsibility to follow the steps outlined by the U.S. Department of State Office of Authentications.

Ordering a Transcript After Graduation

After graduation, alumni no longer have access to unofficial transcripts and must order official transcripts through National Student Clearinghouse, using the same process as current students. Our Order Your Official Transcript section on this page provides step-by-step instructions.

How to order a transcript

Requesting a Duplicate or Replacement Diploma

Duplicate and replacement diplomas are available to graduates from West Lafayette, Indianapolis and Purdue Polytechnic Statewide locations only.

In keeping with national registrar standards, duplicate or replacement diplomas are issued with the current university president and chairman of the Board of Trustees’ signatures rather than the original signatories.

Understanding Your Transcript

Your official Purdue transcript is a detailed record of your academic history — and it may include terms, symbols and codes that aren’t immediately familiar. This section breaks down the information on your transcript so you can review with confidence.

Explore clear explanations of common terms, grading symbols and other notations you may encounter. Whether you’re reviewing your progress or sharing your transcript with an employer or another institution, you’ll know exactly what each entry means.

Purdue’s academic calendar year operates on a semester system — fall, winter, spring and summer. Each semester includes about 16 weeks of instruction, including finals. Summer sessions vary by location in terms of length and format.

Purdue has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) without interruption since 1913. The HLC is an independent accreditor for degree-granting, post-secondary institutions in the United States, evaluating the institution as a whole.

Many colleges and schools within the university also hold additional accreditation from professional organizations in their fields.

Learn More about Accreditation

All Purdue credit is measured in semester hours — whether you earned it in a full 16-week semester or a summer session.

Term GPA: Your grade point average for one term, or semester, based on all graded courses from that semester/session.

Level GPA: Your cumulative grade point average for a level of study — undergraduate, professional or graduate.

Earned Hours: All credit hours you’ve completed with a D- or better, including grades of P (passing), S (satisfactory) and CR (transfer credit).

The following abbreviations have been used by the university since fall 2008.

  • EHRS: Credit hours earned
  • GPA-Hrs: Quality hours earned (all hours that carry grade points)
  • QPts: Quality points earned
  • GPA: Grade point average (calculated by dividing quality points earned by quality hours earned)
  • E: Course that’s excluded from your earned hours and GPA
  • I: Course that’s included in your earned hours and GPA, but was previously marked as excluded

The following grades and grade points are used to calculate the grade point average (GPA) that appears on your transcript. Purdue has used four grading scales over time. The scale that applies to your coursework depends on when you were enrolled at the university.

If your transcript includes courses before 1968, the numbering system worked differently from what has since been adopted. Use the following reference guide in identifying courses by number.

Before September 1953

  • Letters were used to indicate (for example, English A) non-credit courses
  • Courses 1–99 were primarily undergraduate courses
  • Courses 100–199 included advanced undergraduate and some graduate courses
  • Courses 200–299 were graduate courses

September 1953 to Present

  • Courses 001-049 indicate pre-college and deficiency courses
  • Courses 050-099 are non-degree courses
  • Courses 100-299 are lower-division courses, typically scheduled for first- and second-year undergraduate students
  • Courses 300-499 are upper-division courses, typically scheduled for third- and fourth-year undergraduate students
  • Courses 500-599 indicate dual-level, graduate credit courses open to third- and fourth-year undergraduate and graduate students
  • Courses 600-699 designate graduate-level courses (600-level courses are available to undergraduate students in some instances)
