Update: Third Street set to close to vehicular traffic next week

Updated June 10, 2020 to reflect a new title and schedule — originally titled "Third Street set to close in June for new pedestrian mall"

To make way for the new pedestrian mall, Third Street between Martin Jischke Drive and University Street will close to vehicular traffic the week of June 15.

As a result, a cul-de-sac will be created on Waldron Street at Third Street and parking will be reconfigured north of the intersection. Two existing north-south alleys will also be closed to through traffic at Third Street, and adjacent parking will be reconfigured as needed.

North-south traffic at Martin Jischke Drive, Russell Street and University Street intersections will be maintained.

Third Street will open for pedestrians, bicyclists and emergency traffic only by the start of the fall semester.

Questions may be directed to Kristi Brown, senior project manager, at (765) 494-7183 or brownk@purdue.edu.

Third Street will close to vehicular traffic the week of June 8.
