2021 Impact Award Winners

Student Life Honors

The Office of the Vice Provost for Student Life has recognized four outstanding individuals as recipients of Student Life Impact Awards. The awards honor exceptionally accomplished alumni and friends of Student Life. Honorees were recognized during the virtual presentation of the 2021 Student Life Honors awards.

Distinguished Mentorship Award - Joanne Troutner

Joanne TroutnerJoanne Troutner has been named the recipient of the Student Life Distinguished Mentor Award. Troutner has served as a mentor for members of the Purduettes, a Purdue Musical Organizations ensemble, for more than 10 years. She also serves as co-advisor for the Purdue Foundation Student Board, which provides leadership opportunities to students who serve as ambassadors to the University Development Office. She has served the university in numerous capacities, most recently as the chair of the President’s Council Advisory Board. Her tenure as chair saw the completion of Purdue’s Ever True campaign, the largest fundraising endeavor in Purdue’s history. She is an honorary member of the Barbara Cook Chapter of Mortar Board.


Award for Outstanding Leadership - Annette Flickinger Annette Flickinger

Annette Flickinger was named the recipient of the Student Life Award for Outstanding Leadership. Flickinger served Purdue University for nine years in several development roles. She made a huge impact on Student Life through building campaigns for Bailey Hall, the home of Purdue Musical Organizations; the Purdue Crew Boathouse; the $98 million renovation of the France A. Córdova Recreational Sports Center; and the Center for Student Excellence and Leadership, now known as Krach Leadership Center. She also developed a seven-year fundraising campaign for the Student Life Development Office which totaled $37.3 million to support key projects across the division. Flickinger continues to make an impact on higher education as the assistant vice president for development operations for the Ivy Tech Foundation.


Service Award - Laurie Roselle

Laurie Roselle

Laurie Roselle has been honored with the Student Life Service Award. Roselle has shown exceptional leadership through her various volunteer roles, including those with Delta Gamma Fraternity and the Purdue Fraternity and Sorority Alumni Advisory Council. She has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity and served as national president for Delta Gamma. She has been heavily involved with the Princess Project, an organization that provides free prom dresses and accessories to high school teens who cannot otherwise afford them. She has made an impact in the Indianapolis area through her involvement with various entities including Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, Woodland Country Club, Notre Dame Club of Indianapolis and Cathedral High School.


Young Alumni Award - Rachel Svetanoff Rachel Svetanoff

Rachel Svetanoff has been awarded the Student Life Young Alumni award. Svetanoff is a champion for social impact in her role as programs lead for CaringCrowd, Johnson & Johnson’s crowdfunding platform for global public health. She serves on the board of directors for Student Pugwash USA as vice chair, J.B. Dondolo, Inc. as chief of staff, and Consortium for Health Action as nonprofit development consultant and board member. She is also part of the fundraising team for The Ventilator Project and supports the local community through her activity in the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce’s Diversity Round Table. Svetanoff continues to engage with Student Life through the Students for Responsible Engineering (SRSE) organization, the Purdue chapter of Student Pugwash USA.
