BGRi Frequently Asked Questions

I am nervous about arriving by myself. Should I be?

Before you arrive on campus, a Team Leader International will email you to help prepare you for BGRi and to answer any questions you or your family might have. After Check-in, you will have time to call or text home to let your family know you have arrived safely. While you will have some time to yourself or to spend with your family, you will be an important part of a small group of new international students along with your Team Leaders. Together you will learn about staying safe at Purdue.

Is Purdue a safe environment for international students?

Keeping students safe is very important to the entire Purdue community. Purdue has its own police force as well as its own fire department. Both the police and the fire department participate actively in educating students on best safety practices. Purdue is also well equipped with emergency call boxes and safety lighting throughout the campus. To learn more about safety at Purdue, please read the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

What should I bring?
