Course Evaluation – Co-administered Departments
Co-administered departments work in partnership with IDP to create and manage online course evaluations. IDP creates the framework for the evaluations with department coordinators responsible for survey creation and ensuring course and instructor accuracy.
IDP has two resources for assisting coordinators with the evaluation process. Co-administered Evaluation Guidelines will provide an overlook of the process and explain the needs and expectations for successful evaluation completion. The Video tutorials below are available to assist coordinators operate within Course Evaluations and Surveys, formerly EvaluationKIT, by providing step-by-step instructions for adding questions, surveys, and managing courses.
Historical Data
Historical evaluation data from the previous CoursEval system, 2008 to Summer 2020, is available through Instructional Data Processing. Instructors can request evaluation data by emailing idp@purdue.edu.
Schedule and Responses
There are four standard evaluation periods, during weeks 4 and 5, weeks 7 and 8, weeks 9 and 10, and weeks 14 and 15 in the academic calendar. Evaluations begin at 9:00 a.m. thirteen days prior to the course’s end date and close at 11:59 p.m. on the course’s end date for 16-week evaluations. Evaluations are open for 10 days for 5, 8, and 10-week evaluation periods and these must be submitted via a request form to IDP.
Instructors receive automated emails notifying them of the response rate for their courses. Real-time response rate updates are also available at the course evaluation website. It includes the number of students who have submitted responses out of the expected total of students enrolled. Names of students who have completed evaluations are not released to instructors.
Evaluation Questions
Instructors will have mandatory and optional questions, up to fifteen total, to choose for anonymous feedback from their students. Please see “End of Course Evaluation Questions” for details
Midterm Evaluations
Beginning fall 2020, midterm evaluations are available and designed to help instructors access and improve their course delivery. Please see Midterm Guidelines for details.
