1. Emergency Watershed Program

USDA’s Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program is a federal emergency recovery program to help local communities recover after a natural disaster strikes. Fact sheets are linked below. Find more information at this link:https://www.nrcs.usda.gov/programs-initiatives/emergency-watershed-protection. Below is information on how to apply.

The local agency (county, city, town, etc.) must send an EWP request for assistance letter to the NRCS State Conservationist (Damarys Mortenson). A template of the letter is attached. The request letter must be submitted within 60 days of the natural disaster or within 60 days of when the site is accessible (in case of a flood when the water recedes and visual inspections can be made for example).

The local agency (sponsor) can send a hard copy via mail or can email a signed copy of the letter to Damarys Mortenson (Damarys.mortenson@usda.gov).

Might be good for the local agency to cc Mike Cox (mike.cox@usda.gov) as well.

4. Mutual Aid Agreement Template

A formal contract between local governments or agencies to share personnel, equipment, and resources during an emergency or disaster. This is imperative to capture true costs of an emergency when state and federal aid may be involved. Your first point of contact should be your Emergency Management Agency. Example templates (below) have been provided by Fulton County EMA (Thank you Dawn!) in word format for you to edit to fit your needs. Check with your EMA in case they have/use a different one.

5. Updating Road Info on GPS and Apps
