LEAD Mentoring and Coaching Program

LEAD Mentoring Program

The LEAD Mentoring Program offers a unique year-long opportunity for students to engage in a dynamic three-level mentorship structure that supports both individual and group professional development. The program fosters a coaching approach that emphasizes listening over advice-giving, empowering mentees to find their own solutions, and cultivating mutually beneficial relationships that bring positive outcomes for all involved. Through the tiered system, alumni and industry will be paired with senior undergraduate students. Those students will then be assigned to mentor sophomore-level emerging leaders.

Prior to the start of the program, all mentors will participate in structured training on coaching techniques, active listening, and developmental mentorship before being matched with mentees. Throughout the program, the mentors will have the opportunity to gather regularly in cohort groups to share challenges, troubleshoot difficulties, and continue developing their leadership and coaching capabilities. All participants will have the opportunity to interact with one another throughout the mentoring experience.

LEAD Peer Coaching Program

We all experience moments in our lives where we could use support to address a specific challenge or opportunity. The peer coaching program trains and equips student coaches with listening skills, empathy, attention to nonverbal communication, curiosity and questioning skills, and service-orientation to leadership. Students who are being coached will be empowered by their coach to articulate and find solutions to their own problems.
