Lesson Overview:

 Students develop a gardening hand tool that is inspired by prehistoric or contemporary organism adaptations.

Lesson Scenario:

 Rusler Implement, a local agricultural equipment company, is looking to expand to agricultural and gardening hand tools. They are looking for concepts and designs to submit to their manufacturing staff.  They want the products to reflect organism adaptations that have proven successful.

Lesson or Unit Objectives:

 Students will be able to:

    • Make scientific observations and document knowledge of prehistoric dinosaurs and contemporary animals.
    • Complete scientific research to gain deeper understanding of adaptive structures.
    • Design and develop hand tools using the engineering design process and Tinkercad.
    • Refine and manufacture finished hand tools using Fusion 360, reflection, and peer review.

Age Level or Subject:

    • Grade 7-8, Science, Engineering, Computer Science
