Advanced Credit Eligibility

To qualify for Advanced Credit exams, students must follow these requirements.

  1. Only one attempt is allowed for each advanced credit exam.
  2. To be eligible to take an Advanced Credit exam a student must: A) have no established grade for the course except a W and B) cannot be enrolled in the course after the fourth week of the semester.
  3. Chemistry exams: To be eligible to take the Advanced Credit exam for CHM 11200, you must have credit for CHM 11100 or an equivalent course. To be eligible to take the Advanced Credit exam for CHM 11600, you must have credit for CHM 11500 or an equivalent course. Students who have recorded passing credit for both CHM 11100 and 11200 are eligible to take the CHM 11600 Advanced Credit exam.
  4. For each Advanced Credit exam, you must meet with an academic advisor, have Form 231 completed and bring a printed copy of the completed form with you to the exam. Your form must be filled out and signed within the academic year in which you intend to take the exam. No outdated forms will be accepted.
  5. After meeting with your academic advisor, use the Advanced Credit Checklist attached to Form 231 to ensure that you complete all registration steps.
  6. If you are registered in a course for which you plan to take an advanced credit exam, you are responsible for attending and completing all work in that class until you confirm that you have passed the Advanced Credit exam. If you do pass, you can then drop the course.
  7. All Purdue Testing Services rules apply during Advanced Credit exam administration.
  8. Outerwear is not allowed in the testing room. This includes coats, jackets, vests, and scarves.
  9. Electronic devices are not allowed in the testing room. This includes cell phones, laptops, tablets, music players, headphones, recording devices, electronic storage devices, translators, watches, fitness trackers, etc. Calculators are allowed for some exams but are limited to approved models. Please review the requirements and restrictions for your particular exam ahead of the exam.
