ETS

Purdue Testing Services is a certified Educational Testing Service (ETS) testing center. We currently administer the GRE General exam and Praxis exams.

All ETS Exams

All ETS candidates should prepare in advance by reviewing their registration confirmation. It is your responsibility to know what materials — such as identification — you will need to bring along with what items — such as electronic devices, study materials and outerwear — will not be allowed in the testing room. If you cannot be admitted due to an invalid ID, you may forfeit your opportunity to test.

Note that your report time is 30 minutes before your scheduled exam time. You will need to put away your personal belongings and complete the required admission process before beginning your test. If you do not allow sufficient time for this process, you will not be able to begin at the scheduled time. Late arrivals who cannot be accommodated will be turned away and forfeit their opportunity to test.

During admission, you will be asked to read and sign a confidentiality statement. It is your responsibility to thoroughly review this information for every test, even if you have taken the test before. By providing your signature, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to the exam sponsor's rules and policies.

Please be aware that the security check for ETS exams includes a head-to-toe scan with a metal detector wand. Candidates should inform testing center staff if they have a medical concern, such as an implanted medical device.

GRE General

All GRE candidates are required to present one valid, non-expired form of government-issued photo identification. The ID must include your name exactly as it appears on their registration, a signature, and a recent, recognizable photo.

Candidates testing outside of their country of citizenship should present a passport that meets all of the above criteria. If a passport cannot be presented, a permanent resident card, temporary resident card, employment authorization card or refugee travel document can be accepted if presented along with a supplemental ID.

A photo will be taken during admission.

The general GRE exam is three hours, forty-five minutes long with an optional ten-minute scheduled break after the third section. Unscheduled breaks are allowed but discouraged since the test time will not stop. During a break, candidates may use the restroom and access food, beverages or medication, but they may not access other personal items or leave the building.
