Student Permits

Requests open: Late June

Cost: $75 per year

Students who live outside of the Student Permit Eligibility Boundary, within the “Island” or in Tower Acres for the academic year may request a Value permit in the Purdue Parking Portal. Proof of the student’s local address or housing contract for the academic year needs to be uploaded at the time of the permit request.

First-year student exception requests are completed through the Purdue Parking Portal.

Parking is available in either the Purdue University Airport east gravel lot or at 2550 Northwestern Avenue. Subject to remaining permit availability, students will choose one of the two locations in which to park when purchasing a permit. Free campus transit service will run during the academic year between these lots and select campus locations to help students travel between destinations. Overnight parking is allowed in these locations for permit holders, excluding university breaks that require a temporary vehicle storage permit.

Cost: $250 per year

Select professional and graduate students who live outside of the Student Permit Eligibility Boundary may request one of the limited Student Garage permits through the Purdue Parking Portal. Each permit is assigned to one specific parking garage (Wood Street, Northwestern Avenue, University Street or Harrison Street) and may also be used in any surface lot “C” space.

At the time of request, students rank the garages in order of parking preference and upload verification of their local address for the academic year.

Demand for Student Garage permits is higher than the number of permits available, and not all requests will result in a permit being offered. To help manage availability, permits not purchased within a set amount of time will be made available to other students. Permits for each parking garage are limited, and some locations will sell out. Ranked preferences are not guaranteed.

Eligible professional and graduate students who are not offered a Student Garage permit should instead purchase a “C” permit as soon as possible, as they often sell out. If additional Student Garage permits become available at a later date, a professional or graduate student will have the option to trade in their “C” permit and pay the difference in cost.

Cost: $100 per year

Subject to availability, any registered student whose local place of residence is outside of the Student Permit Eligibility Boundary may request a “C” permit. Students must upload proof of their local address through the Purdue Parking Portal, and vehicles must be registered for License Plate Recognition and linked to the purchased permit. “C” permits often sell out, and eligible students may purchase a Value permit if no “C” permits are available.

Professional and graduate students

During select dates, eligible professional and graduate students receive priority access to “C” permits in place of a Student Garage permit.

Undergraduate students

If “C” permits remain available after professional and graduate students have the opportunity to request one, eligible undergraduate students can apply on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking Operations will notify students by email if and when they are able to purchase a permit.

Any registered student whose local place of residence is outside of the Student Permit Eligibility Boundary and employed by Purdue at least 30 paid hours per week may be eligible to purchase a Student A or Student B permit with a completed Student A/B Permit Application. The application gets completed and uploaded to the Purdue Parking Portal by choosing “Special Permit Requests.”

Neither permit allows overnight parking or includes gated garage access.

Graduate students who purchase an annual permit are eligible for payroll deduction.
